Happy Like Yellow

A simple stamp

Hello everyone...Happy monday to you all! I'm happy to come to you today featuring a new layout actually inspired by a stamp...oh and a little yellow! I let this little stamp sit in my studio calico kit for awhile until I started playing around with it and discovered I could make some really great patterns with it.  I'm a girl who loves a pattern from a cool chevron to a modern damask. Sometimes a repeated pattern of a very simple stamp can create very interesting results.

Imaginative pairings of patterns and shapes make my heart skip a beat! A zebra print along with a classic, a bold strip with a floral. They create interesting constrasts every time. I find newness and inspiration from disorganized pretty, I guess you could say.

My stamping wasn't all the best, more so because of the textured paper but I kind of like the gritty result. 

This layout doesn't have as many layers as I'm used to using but I really wanted to show the stamped layer. 

I used a little Studio Calico, echo park( the woodgrain paper) and a Crate paper chiboard piece. 

So I will definitely be trying to create some new stamped images using this technique...it was so fun!

Delightful

How delightful it was to work on this page, to play around with thickers and my mini alpha stickers. Sometimes you just want to have fun. I put together some fun colors that I love including a little chevron. I put this page together sort of guickly, in about 30 minutes actually. Those pages created rather quickly are usually my favorite ones.  I'm all for random and when I overthink the page tends to be almost too cohesive for me. 

These photos were from a little valentine shoot with my niece. I love the ruffles and the adorable smiles.

I am a official lover of the mini, I love creating these little tag cards and they come with ease if you have all of your scraps laying around you. If you're like me you have things everywhere.  I scrap in the living room on the sofa mostly so I have things on the coffee table, the floor and in boxes and bags around me.  It would be quite annoying to most people but it's the only way for me to work on things. Having things in my sight  is the only way I can create. 

How is everyone today, hopefully enjoying this mild winter we are having. Today it was 82...I mean really, it's supposed to be winter time! I thoroughly enjoy it though.

I finally got around to taking some photos of this new mini tag book. I wanted to create something a little more masculine for my son and the most recent photos of him and I thought this new line from echo park was the best to do that with. The line is full of browns and greens and just the cutest stickers. Oh and how you gotta love the vintage cameral trend. 

I created the front page from one of the cameral stickers and created a little dimension with some pop dots. I punched a circle where the lense is and added a sparkly rhinestone button.

I used a studio calico stamp for the design on this tag. 

Of course I added a little sparkle, a few splatters on my banners. 

There are still a few pages to add and some journaling but I love how it has turned out so far. I'm interested in creating a little chipboard camera, I think I've seen one around the web. Now I wish I could get my hands on it. Making one myself just might have to do!  I want to add a few more layers and some things that might take a little more time, I will share more when it is complete.

The best intentions

I had every intention today of posting some photos of a new mini that I've been working on but how quickly I forget how bad the morning lighting is! So I'll be trying again in the afternoon. Instead I'm bringing to you today some fun and inspiring spaces!

As you can see I've been perusing pinterest for random inspiration. I love all the colors and creative spice it has to offer! I love seeing how everyone makes their creative spaces work for them.  

I'm off to enjoy this day we are having, hopefully to return with some crafty things to share.

A new twist

 

I've been thinking about summer vacation amongst other things lately, along with thoughts of clear blue water and orange sunsets. So a new color palette has been calling my name wishing me to try it out. The tones of orange and pink are new to me and with a little turquoise thrown in makes for an interesting combo.

I got very inspired after receiving a little stash from a swap I did with other members of studio calico. In my box was plenty of goodies, amongst them were several sasafrass stickers, crate chipboard and stickers, and sasafrass alphas in the cool blue tone. I proceded to work on this layout and I am really loving the these cool colors together. For now you may see some new hues around here, but of course the yellow hues will be back!  

I created a bunch of layers using several crate paper stickers from different collections and some of those cute sasafrass flowers.

I'm totally smitten with this krafty graphic striped paper by 7gypsies! It's the perfect backdrop for bright colors.

I don’t know about you but I've been secretly waiting for spring to arrive! I can feel it in the air…it comes slow…first the rains the foggy mornings, the intermittent warm days.  This pattern is customary for florida.  One day you might see azaleas another you notice more the bare trees and pollen in the air. But it's on it's way!

You see it in all the new collections around this time of year, they are so airy, fresh and bright!

I'm off to relax a little today, check out what my local scrapbook store has and hopefully stay on budget! Wow that's gonna be hard!

Dreamy

I could hardly let the Valentine holiday pass without a little fun inspiration. I created this layout for The Creative type blog.  It's a fun challenge blog that has a new challenge every month along with fun giveaways and great guest designers. This month the challenge was "your biggest crush"! You gotta love my inspiration...This guy is one of my biggest crushes.  I'm sure plenty of women would say the same!

I think the prize this month is one of  Tina Aszmus's oh so lovely Currents Journaling Cards and Polaroids! Check it out and join in...it's been a fun challenge!

I've never really been a challenge person but these are sort of fun and a great way to push yourself beyond the normal photo layouts and layouts of life events. 

You may be seeing me around again today, I have too much to share this week for just a few posts! Funny how that works out!  Been working on some fun projects of my own and for SEI, have you checked out their new collections? All I can say is mmm very pretty! 

By the way I have a layout posted over there for Valentine's day! It's very pretty and very pink!

More Yellow

You just gotta love a chevron or a zig-zag whichever you prefer to call it!  It's the going trend these days and I simply can't get enough of it. I've always loved a cool chevron pattern on walls, curtains and rugs but now it's transferred to patterned paper. Classic designs in great color combination is something I'd always hoped for and it's finally here! yay! 

I finally opened and began to work with my DayDream believer kit from studio calico. It has all sorts of goodies and papers in some fun pastels and brights. 

I can hardly believe how I am stepping out of my comfort zone and using a Creme cardstock instead of white or kraft. It has been fun working with some other color combinations. And what do you know I absolutely love Yellow and Creme together! Totally soft and elegant. 

The picture here was one of my niece on a little valentine shoot and it was altered in a new app I found called 100 cameras. You gotta try it! 

I included some other things like those cool glitter splatters and papers by Glitz designs. Added a vintage elements to my pages makes them a little more me I think. I can't get enough of a brown or typography paper. 

This will definitely not be the last time I try a softer color palette. It makes me think of vanilla bean ice cream. Mmmm

Well I'm off to help the kiddo finish some valentines, homework and some other projects. I hope to share some cute things tommorow...Until later...

Happy Weekend

Happy Weekend everyone! I'm just popping in to say hello and to share my amazing 2$ bunch of faux flowers! I just happened upon a basket at michaels with bagged bunches of flowers, and I spotted these walking up. They contained several peonies and other flowers in some great colors. I don't usually like fake flowers but being in florida it's about the best I'm going to get.Peonies and ranunculus don't grow here and ordering would be the only way to get them.

This is how I get my flower fix. I adore the colors and they would be very good for photography practice.

I hope the weekend is going well for you all! We actually got a little winter tease this weekend so I will be bundling up.

Sand and Sea

I've been dreaming of summer, of places where the water is a certain unmistakable kind of blue. A magical blue. The water is calm and the days go slow. I was thinking of that tone of blue when working on this layout. 

I took a chance on this one. I know...it's definitely on my hmmm "I'm not sure if I like this" list. But I do love the inspiration. I've been daydreaming about my upcoming summer vacation. I'm about to book a Caribbean vacation shortly and I've been thinking of it constantly. It's somewhere I've never been...off the coast of venezuela. Once I have it all confirmed I will share, I promise!

I created this layout around a lovely photo of the sea. The entire thing turned out a little more exotic then I had hoped but the tone of blue was meant to pop off the page. I love bright colors, bold patterns and layers. Oh and I love those soft grey feathers too! ha ha

So the page came together around these elements and it is what it is...a moment in my scrapbooking journey. I discovered after photographing the layout that the words were upside down on one of my papers. Oh well...Like I may have said in the past I love to explore and create layouts using the unexpected, sometimes they are so inspiring to me. And sometimes can be on either side of a hit or miss, or directly in the middle!
