I happen to have very serious addiction to leaves and flowers, along with their petals and stems. Everytime I walk outside I want to collect them. One by one I want to gather them up with all their pretty colors and veins. Even the tattered ones, the ones with the burnt edges are delightfully frail and yet still beautiful. These are the images that I carry around with me all the time and how wonderful is it that fall is on it's way and there will be plenty of colorful, beautifully shaped leaves lying around for the taking. I use them as my inspiration for just about everything I create, from the long stemmed floral cut files to all my sketches. I try to draw them from the things that I've seen in nature but also from my point of view.
This layout was inspired by the new season ahead of us. From the colors to the layering. I started cutting a few leaves awhile ago and have been cutting them out by the dozens in all different shapes. I love to use patterned papers, different found papers and also just plain white for painting on.
I painted all the little leaves using gelatos because they were the closest to me and the colors are very light and airy. You can also use watercolors and acrylic paints for a darker more solid look. The options are really limitless.
I'm going to say that I hope to get back into the swing of things. I've been feeling like I'd lost my creativity somewhere over the last few weeks but I think It's just the time of year when everything seems to hit at the same time. There was a week there where I thought everything bad that could happen to me was happening but slowly things seem to be getting better so perhaps my creativity will return. I felt a little spark with the last few pages I've made so I really hope I'm on my way...
So here's to cooler temps, more time spent outside on little adventures and good times all around!
See ya soon!
